About Dave E Wilkes

My name is Dave E Wilkes and the reason I have started this blog is because of the problems that a low self esteem (or self image) can cause

I’ve seen these effects in my clients

And, maybe more importantly, I’ve seen them in myself too.

Where Did I Start?

I was brought up in the north of England.

My parents worked hard to make ends meet and our family was raised with the belief that we children should be seen and not heard.

Looking back I can see that we were a dysfunctional family, which is a long winded way of saying that we didn’t really communicate with each other.

And, to be honest, being a good communicator is still something that does not come easily to me.

But I do my best.

And each time I work through a specific problem, things often get a little easier and my communication becomes a little better.

Who Is Dave E Wilkes?

I’m in my sixties, and I have many parts to myself :-

  • I am a husband, father and grandfather.
  • I enjoy walking cycling and playing guitar, and
  • I am a healer and therapist offering massage and other modalities to specialise in removing body pain and overcoming emotional & physical problems to help get your life on track.

My wife and I have a dog and two cats.

And we now live in southern Spain.

I’ve been a therapist for almost 40 years and during that time I have become more and more aware of the difficulties caused by having a poor self image or poor self esteem.

And the thing is that many, if not all, of my clients would have no idea that their therapist had or has problems of his own (just as we all have in one way or another).

I’ve started this Blog to help others overcome their self esteem and their self image difficulties.

I hope to hear from you. And if you can let me know what type of things you would like me to cover, then I will do my very best to help.

I see this Blog as a way of improving our experiences in the journey through life for both of us.  For you. And for me.

  1. Hi Dave,
    Site looks great!
I love this whole subject, and have written about it for many years!

I believe the education system is at fault, but that’s a subject for another time!

Keep up the good work, and good luck to all of us on the Quick Start Challenge!
    Cheers, Gordon

      Hi to the Great Gordino

      Thanks for your comments.

I’ve found that a person’s Self Esteem can really make or break their success and happiness in life, and I know that you continue to do you part in helping people to get on in life.

Thanks for calling here and leaving a comment, and good luck to yourself too on the Quick Start Challenge

  2. Good job Dave, glad to see you sharing your passion! We are never to old to contribute and share our passion!

Thanks very much for you comment, Robin. I appreciate you stopping by.
And I certainly agree with what you say – we are never too old to contribute an to share our passion.

Where I live, here in Spain, it is obvious that the elderly are well respected because of their age and I certainly believe that attitude from the young helps keep us older ones young in spirit.

    Hi Dave,

Nice site and an important topic.

I notice that you are living in Southern Spain – difficult times with the economy and the Euro!!

I live in Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK – things are also getting tighter and tighter here!

One topic that would be worth addressing on your blog is how to maintain self-esteem whilst struggling to make money online i.e. working hard for no apparent financial return. I think most of the QSCers fall into this category as far as I can see.

    regards

    Mark

      Hi Mark
Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment

I know Stratford-Upon-Avon well and spent many a happy hour there when I lived in England.

You are making an interesting suggestion to be sure, how to maintain self-esteem whilst struggling and working hard for no apparent financial return.

because it doesn’t only apply to internet marketers as you will realise

I will be sure to address that problem as soon as I can….
.. and, yes, I agree that many of us in the Quick Start Challenge group will be able to relate to that.

You have certainly give me food for thought there and I thank you for that.

I wish you well in the “Challenge” and hope you call back here again. You can be sure of receiving a warm welcome if you do so.

A facinating blog, I’m also interested that you are living in Spain. Part of my plan is to move to Greece.
Good luck with all your ventures and the QSC

      Hi Andy

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.

I know Milton Keynes fairly well. I have family living there.

Reading on your blog about how you enjoy the outdoors I’m sure you would love living in Greece – it is a beautiful place.

We considered moving to Greece when we were deciding to emigrate from the UK but eventually decided on Spain for a number of reasons; two of them being that the language is easier to learn and also because it would be easier for our children, family and friends to visit.

I wish you well and every success with the QSC.

  5. Hi Dave,

    Another QSC member here.

Thanks for setting up this site, I will sent a few people here that could use some help with self esteem.

I have seen a few good tips as well!!

I live in cold gray Birmingham UK, and I envy you for nice sunny weather, as it keeps raining here :(

I surely will keep an eye on this site!

      Hi Rudy

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave a message.

That would be great if you can send people over here because I think we can all benefit from improving the way we feel about ourselves.

      Rainy Birmingham?
Say no more. We left rainy Yorkshire to come here!

Although I would guess that even though the weather in Birmingham does get wet, you will manage to see the silver lining in amongst the clouds!

Thanks again for calling and leaving a comment. All the best to you

    Hi Dave,

I really can appreciate the information on your website.

The way we think of ourselves can definitely impact how we progress in life. We should always be our biggest cheerleaders and surround ourselves with positive and like-minded people. However, I do realize that things that happen in our lives can drastically effect the decisions we make.

I too grew up in a very dysfunctional household and environment. I sheltered myself from other people because I felt as if I wasn’t smart enough to engage in conversation with others. But somehow, I overcame all of the negativity, I realized that my environment was something that I could change. But, I did it on my own and without having the resources that you provide here. I think you for providing this information and for helping me and others like me.

I tip my hat off to you and wish you the best of look on your journey.

      Hi Shawn

Thank you so much for sharing this info about yourself and I am so impressed that you managed to overcome those problems by yourself.

I know that it isn’t easy to do that. Well done!

I believe that many of us have problems with the way we feel about ourselves and the more it is spoken about, the easier it is for others to consider that they really can change themselves.

Many thanks for your kind comments.

All the best in your journey and with the QSC.

Self esteem is the one diefning thing that stops people in their tracks. its sad when you think about all the things you couldve or could do without this problem

    • Dave E Wilkes says:

      Hi Bhaiyat

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.

I agree with what you say wholeheartedly.

It is sad when we have regrets about “What could have been if only….. ”

I think that if, bit by bit, we continue moving in the right direction, then gradually things will get better for us and the regrets become a thing of the past.

      Hi Sergio

2012 was a little bit like the vicar’s egg – good in parts, and so I’m looking forward to 2013.

For me it is a beginning – and I intend to make the new year a better beginning learning from 2012 and working on the important things.

Thank you for calling around.. I’m off to check on your take on 2013 now – hope it’s going to be a good one for you.
